One Madewell vest: 3 ways to wear it
I recently found myself in Madewell staring at this button up sweater vest and having a major flashback to 1995, It gives me major Jessie Spano vibes, in a good way. What I’m saying is, the 90’s are back and I am here for it. Except for low rise jeans. Those I am most definitely not here for. Here I’m styling it 3 ways…Which way would you wear it?
I call this first look weekend Jessie. You’re done with all your homework, you’re about to meet Slater and the gang at The Max for a fun Friday night. Okay too much? Enough with the Saved By the Bell memories?
Here’s why I actually like this for real, no more Jessie Spano jokes I promise.
I love neutrals on neutrals. Cream and white, grey and white, tan and white, they’re all just lovely. This off white shade of denim that’s been floating around recently paired with the soft brown of the vest just felt right to me. I like this with the cognac clogs as opposed to a white or lighter tan shoe because it brings balance to the whole look. The deeper tan of the vest on top and deeper cognac of the shoes on the bottom create the perfect color sandwich.
Here, I like adding a little pattern with the striped t-shirt. Truth is, I’ve never met a striped t- shirt I don’t like. If I can find a way to work stripes into an outfit I will. Same thing with jumpsuits, I’m pre-disposed to like jumpsuits, its just my thing. But I love this whole look if only for the fact that flare jeans are MAKING A COMEBACK BABY! Anyway moving along…
Last but not least we have our cool teacher/casual office work look. Here, I’m wearing it over a longer length white button up with black skinny pants. These pants are the Spanx Perfect Pant, Ankle Backseam skinny, and let me tell you, THEY. ARE. A. REVELATION.
Let me tell you a side story unrelated to the vest – I was a skeptic about Spanx for a long time because of all the hype over THE leggings. You know the ones I’m talking about. For me, when something is over hyped I tend to be suspicious of it. You too? I knew we were going to be friends. Anyway, long story short, over Christmas I gave in to the hype machine and turns out every blogger on the internet was right. Spanx pants are LEGIT.
Hold up this was supposed to be about the VEST….
Anywho, this vest is a lovely wardrobe workhorse for spring. I love it and it is fully stocked on the Madewell website. Would you wear it? Why or why not? How would you style it?
