Babyliss Cold Brush Review
Recently I’ve been making more of an effort to invest in the health of my hair. My hair is color treated, and I use some type of heat styling tool on my hair daily. I’ve been trying the Babyliss Cold brush for a few months and I find it to be a really interesting product. If you search for it online you will find very mixed reviews, people seem to love it, or hate it. I think that is due to the fact that consumers don’t understand how or what this brush is designed to do. Our culture REALLY likes immediate gratification and this is not the tool for that. The cold brush is not designed to change your hair immediately, although I do notice some immediate reduction in frizz when I use it on dry hair. The goal in using this brush is similar to whole body cryotherapy, to promote the long term health of your hair.
The cold brush works by adding moisture back into your hair, which in turn helps with the strength and elasticity of your hair and builds up over time. This brush can be used on wet or dry hair and, according to Babyliss, the more you use it the better your results will be. Once turned on, there is no waiting time, the cooling plates start working almost immediately.
I find myself using this brush a few times a week, mainly to refresh my hair on day two or three after heat styling. According to Babyliss you can use it before blow drying on wet hair, and after blow drying on dry hair to smooth and replace the moisture lost during heat styling. To be bluntly honest, that seems very time consuming. For me, at best I see myself using this once a day on dry hair.
The point of this tool is to combat the effects of heat styling, not to immediately produce smooth results similar to a flat iron. Can it reduce frizz and smooth hair? Yes, to some degree. My personal favorite way to use it is to refresh my hair on the second or third day after washing. Would you use this product? I would love to hear if you have used it and what your thoughts are in the comments!

Hey I’m curious: does the cold brush adding “moisture back into your hair” after hot curling make the curl fall out? Usually if there is a lot of moisture or humidity in the air, my curls quickly un-curl. Does the cooling brush adding moisture back cause that to happen? Thanks!

Hi Hannah! I think that probably depends on your hair type. I’m usually able to use it to just refresh curls the day after I curl my hair but by day 3 I need to re-curl it. Hope that helps!
